THE LABORATORY OF GENERATIVE ENGINEERING DESIGN

Institute of Transport Technology and Engineering Design is part of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering STU in Bratislava. In 2013, there was established Laboratory of Generative Engineering Design. Its main role is a research of new methods of vehicle and its components development.

The workplace is utilized on the level of top design offices in the automotive industry with software and hardware tools. There are 11 working stations with CATIA V5, V6 and appropriate modules or extensions suitable for vehicle development. There is used a 3D FDM printer for manufacturing of accurate and rigid prototypes; a vacuum casting device which enables silicone moulds casting; and 3D optical scanning device.

WHO WE ARE

We are a team of students, researchers and industry specialists. In the field of transport technology and engineering design we are represented by the Institute of Transport Technology and Engineering Design and employees of Dytron company. In the field of artistic design and styling we are represented by the Institute of Industrial Design from the Faculty of Architecture. Whether some of us are dealing with problematic of design for a short time or some of us are experts in this field, we supplement each other to be successful.

WHAT WE DO

We are dealing with the prototype development, not just for automotive industry, the way a model of future product is modifiable, optimized, and certainly good quality.

GOALS OF THE PROJECT

  • Improve practical involvement of students to the different scientific tasks;
  • design of virtual vehicle prototype;
  • explore possibilities of Rapid Prototyping technologies application in the field of prototype development;
  • build a strong cooperation between academic sector and applicability in practice.
